Goethe! At 266 life has just begun!

(German version below)
england_smallOf course I want to send my congratulations on your birthday – a little bit of honesty first.
When I started acting, there were two authors I absolutely didn’t want to play: Shakespeare and Goethe. You haven’t been the youngest at that time anymore, I was keen on ‘’nuclear energy – a clear NO“, Burkhart Driest and driving my so cool motorcycle. All this old stuff didn’t make me curious at all, therefore it was clear, that I had to get a Goethe. The choir’s text of the Trojans from Faust II, to be exact.
To make a long story short:
The more rehearsals I had, the more I learned to love the words I spoke. It opened me a complete new world that is now my linguistic home, which I’ll never be able to leave again. I found a home I never thought existed and I never asked for, a real gift.
Even after I loved your words I didn’t like you. To me you were an awful son and an even worse husband. I absolutely didn’t want to come near you and your acts, when I read a saying by Marcel Reich-Ranicki, which said that Goethe was out of all German poets the most human one. Human in his longing, his lovelife, his fear of criticism and needing of appreciaton.
For me, it changed everything, because Reich-Ranicki has always been straightforward, I could really believe him. The first time I believed someone Goethe was worth reading.
You were only human.
And an amazing poet.
Johann Wolfgang, from the bottom of my heart I wish you all the best on you 266th birthday!
Please forgive me my long hesitation, I am only human, just like you are.
My present for you is the most popular love poem ever written, spoken in 7 completely different ways by completely different people, and surely, there are more to come.
(You’ll find the clips below the German version!)
Yours,
Karime

To make a long story short:
Stay tuned.
Deine Karime

Happy birthday!!
